NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF THE

ARVIN UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT

RELATING TO CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL

OF A SCHOOL FACILITIES NEED ANALYSIS

 AND ADOPTION OF ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL FACILITY FEES

 PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT

CODE SECTIONS 65995.5, 65995.6, 65995.7

 

            NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Trustees (“Board”) of the Arvin Union School District (“District”) at a Public Hearing to be held on July 20, 2010, will review and consider approval of the “SCHOOL FACILITY NEEDS ANALYSIS OF THE ARVIN UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR CONSIDERATION OF ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL FACILITY FEES" and consider adoption of a resolution approving that School Facilities Needs Analysis (“SFNA”) and adopting alternative school facility fees pursuant to Government Code Section 65995.5 65995.6, and 65995.7 (“Resolution”). 

 

            If adopted, the Resolution would confirm and amend prior resolutions on school facilities fees, approve the SFNA, and adopt Alternative School Facilities Fees as authorized in Government Code sections 65995, 65995.5, 65995.6, and 65995.7.  The effect of this Resolution would be to increase the amounts of fees normally received by the District from new residential construction from $8.65 per square foot to $6.13, when the State’s school building programs have funds available for new school facilities, and to $12.27, when the State’s school building programs no longer have funds available for new school facilities.  These fees enable the District to deal with the fluctuation of its school facilities needs caused by the varying levels of new residential construction.

 

            The District must conduct and adopt a SFNA pursuant to Government Code Section 65995.6 as one of the prerequisites to levying alternative statutory school facility fees authorized by Government Code sections 65995, 65995.5, 65995.6, and 65995.7.  The SFNA in its final form is on file and available for public review at the District’s offices located at 737 Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, California, and is herein incorporated by reference.  Any person may obtain a copy of the SFNA at the District office.  To receive a copy of the SFNA by mail, please contact Mrs. Jerelle Kavanagh at the District, at 661-854-6500.

 

            The public hearing which will be held at a meeting of the Governing Board on July 20, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter, at El Camino Real Elementary, Cafeteria, located at 911 El Camino, Arvin, CA.  These matters will be considered at such time as this agenda item is considered by the Board of the District.
