Minutes of the Arvin Union School District Board of Trustees Special Meeting held on June 12, 2007.

 

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Stoner at 5:59 p.m.

Mrs. Kavanagh addressed the board giving an update on the El Camino Real Elementary construction project. Points of concern were re-awarding the job bid for ceiling and walls after the current contractor defaulted.  Also P.G. & E. has been pushed back to mid July for permanent power hook up.  After a brief discussion Mrs. Kavanagh excused herself from the remainder of the meeting at 6:06 p.m.                                                                                                                         

Communications from the public

 

 

On motion of Mr. Owens, seconded by Mr. Sumaya, the board unanimously approved the authorization for services with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office to conduct the process of Superintendent Search for the Arvin Union School District.

 

Mrs. Sylvia Treanor led the rest of the meeting as a workshop to discuss the process of beginning the Superintendent Search.  Mrs. Treanor gave examples and suggestions to aid the board in deciding deadlines and requirements to be used for a flyer advertising the superintendent’s position. All applications and required documents would be available for screening no later than August 30, 2007, interviews being held on September 15, 2007 and a possible selection made by the board on or by September 30, 2007.
