Mrs. Kavanagh introduced
Ms. Adriana Andino, CSEA Chapter 164 President. Ms. Andino, along with her executive board,
on behalf of the Arvin CSEA Chapter 164 presented the Board of Trustees with
a plaque acknowledging the districts participation in the Appreciating
Classified Employees Program. The
Arvin Union School District was one of ten top districts chosen in the State
of California as a participant in the ACE Program. Ms. Andino explained the ACE Program is a
day given where administrators shadow classified employees. Mr. Stoner accepted the plaque on behalf of
the board. Finally Ms. Andino shared that she along with her executive board
were looking forward to another great year as they start negotiations in
November. They are presently preparing their proposal for that meeting. Mrs. Kavanagh
introduced Ms. Cathie Barraza, KCSOS SAIT Program Coordinator for Haven
Drive. Ms. Barraza gave the results of
Haven Drive’s Third Progress Report.
Ms. Barraza was pleased to inform the board of the great job and hard
work the Haven Drive Administrators and staff had done to meet many of the
bench marks during the third reporting period. Ms. Barraza led a discussion for question
from the board and audience. She also
informed the board that she would return in March of 2008 to give the fourth
period report. Mrs. Kavanagh shared
with the board the Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAO) which is
the Title III Accountability Report for 2006/07. The report reflected information for
English Learner students making at least one level of improvement, those
students making their proficiency level and how many Subgroups met percent
proficient levels. There was
improvement made by the students however their Annual Growth Target was not met. |

Ms. Renee Goodwin, of
Colombo Construction, introduced herself to the board and proceeded to
address construction issues at El Camino Real Elementary specifically the
three portable classrooms and the kitchen.
Ms. Goodwin informed the board she planned the portables to be
occupied on October 22, and the kitchen would be operational by the end of
October. However due to complications
with equipment changes in the kitchen it is uncertain when the kitchen could
be used as a full functioning food preparation kitchen. Ms. Goodwin reviewed
and answered questions from the board regarding the request for approval of
change order CO-08 for El Camino Real Elementary item number 801 of the
agenda. Mr. Bill Melby, of
Ordiz-Melby Architect, explained to the board the ongoing delay in the El
Camino Real Elementary kitchen was due to not having sufficient electrical
power to operate the additional equipment in the kitchen and he assured the
board they were diligently working to get this problem resolved. |
