How to set up a 403(b) for pre tax deduction with the district

The first step is to select and enroll in a plan. You can compare plans at  www.403bcompare.com and the plans available are listed here.

Once you are enrolled in a plan, you will need to set up your account information with TCG Services

After these steps are completed, TCG  will inform the district of the salary deduction amount and the district will process it.

Why can't I make these changes directly with my district? Why do they need a Third Party Administrator?

The rules for administering a 403(b) plan are complex and impose significant compliance duties on the district.  School Districts across California use Third Party Administrators to manage the program and stay in compliance.
